Job Description

Job Objective:

Under the direction of the Director, Quality. Clinical Safety and Infection Control, the Clinical Data Analyst selects, extracts compiles and transforms interconnected data elements into meaningful information requested by the clinical leadership for decision-making purposes. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Analyze and report clinical data for the Organization

  • Development and maintenance of Dashboard data presentation for the Quality Management/Clinical Safety committee and the Executive Team.
  • Prepare and/assist the Medical Staff with presentations for the Executive Team and Medical Staff Committees
  • Coordinate and prepare Medical Staff Committee Data Requests, for AVHCD
  • Provide clinical data to third parties approved by the Executive Team
  • Assist in the preparation of clinical survey data
  • Development and maintenance of Dashboard data presentation for the Quality Management/Clinical Safety committee and the Executive Team.
  • Prepare and/assist the Medical Staff with presentations for the Executive Team and Medical Staff Committees
  • Coordinate and prepare Medical Staff Committee Data Requests, for AVHCD
  • Provide clinical data to third parties approved by the Executive Team
  • Assist in the preparation of clinical survey data

2. Facilitates the efficient use of computers for clinical data capturing

3. Provide the following hospital departments with clinical data support requests:

  • Executive Team
  • Patient Guest Relations
  • Nursing
  • Medical Staff
  • Patient Care Coordination
  • Medical Records
  • Other clinical departments as required
  • ITSG (for clinical data extraction only)
  • Training Department

4. Appraise the efficiency, with which resources are deployed, identify opportunities to improve operational performance and recommend solutions to problems where appropriate such as systems Analysis and Change.

5. Coordinate/Collaborate with other Performance Improvement Staff to make sure that adequate and effective corrective action is applied

6. Verify that reports, charts and other uses of such information are consistently applied with published definitions as it pertains to statistical methodology

7. Maintain the data mapping tables that drive the interfaces and data-feeds between the source systems and/or Data Warehouse.

8. Assists with the data trending required in preparation for Regulatory Agencies

9. Provides clinical data for external agencies when required and approved by the Executive Team

Education and Experience:

Education

  • BS/BA required in Information Technology or equivalent field. 

Experience

  • Healthcare experience strongly preferred, including Medical terminology and ICD coding.
  • Experience with SharePoint 2010 and 2013 to manage and administer the team/project documentation, information and communication.
  • Advanced Knowledge in MS Access 2007 and 2010
  • Knowledge of Excel Services and SQL Server Reporting Services preferred

 Required Licensure and/or Certifications:

  • Certification in IT field desired
