Job Description

Job Objective:

The Manager of Quality is responsible for coordination, and implementation of the Quality Management program at Antelope Valley Hospital. The quality manager will also assist and participate in preparing all clinical audits and surveys. The quality manager will also participate in all regulatory surveys and investigations, such as the hospital’s triennial Joint Commission survey and California Department of Public Health investigations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Supervisory Responsibilities
    1. Supervises the delegation of assignments to Quality staff to assure competency, accuracy, and timeliness of work.

    2. Provides coverage in the Director's absence including supervision of all staff.

    3. Provides direction to enhance the effectiveness of the multidisciplinary or interdisciplinary teams.

    4. Performs personnel functions including interviewing, counseling, evaluations, and disciplinary actions as assigned.

  2. Program Management Responsibilities
    1. Assists in the development, monitoring, and presentation of internal quality measures and initiatives.

    2.  Coordinating, tracking, and reporting of clinical outcomes, and follow-up of corrective action plans.

    3.  Responsible for developing methods for data collection and extracts data as required.

    4.  Assists with coordination of Quality Improvement committee meetings.

    5.  Prepares quality reports and statistics.

    6.  Participate in management and staff meetings as they relate to quality improvement.

    7.  Provide in-service training to non-provider staff in the area of quality improvement.

    8.  Assists with creation of all regulatory and accreditation reports.

    9. Assists in the performance improvement of Hospital Value-Based Purchasing and Leapfrog metrics.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge

  • Comprehensive knowledge of medical diagnostic and procedural terminology

  • Understanding of disease processes, anatomy and physiology as necessary

  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations and requirements which pertain to patient care information

  • Has a working knowledge of aspects of patient care provided in the facility

  • Current knowledge of Regulatory and Accrediting bodies such as CMS, JC, State Department of Health and insurance providers.
     

Skills

  • Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing

  • Is a motivated independent individual who can organize workload so that all functions are completed appropriately and timely

  • Computer skills to include data entry. Working knowledge of MS Office Professional (Outlook, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Visio)

  • Demonstrated expertise in systems analysis

  • Strong management skills

  • Interpersonal skills including verbal communication for staff education, patient interaction as needed and medical staff. Additional leadership level skills, such as motivating staff and being a change agent.

  • Ability to use current research findings and other evidence to expand knowledge, enhance role performance, and increase knowledge of professional issues
